Baucher bit Consultation for Picadera

Which point(s) apply to your horse?

My horse chews too little and gets stuck at bit . Snaffle bits encourage the chewing activity through the flexible mouthpiece. A one-sided development of adjusting & bending aids is possible.

My horse has a very restless mouth and chews very hard. It is also very sensitive. A ported & mullen mouth bit lies stable on the tongue, has an even pressure distribution and conveys more calm & stability.

How mobile should the side piece of your bit be?

Fixed side piece: This can only be swiveled inwards and outwards. This means that it lies still. Reining aids are transmitted directly to the mouthpiece .

Movable side piece: Has a vertical play at the connection between mouthpiece and the upper tree. This allows the horse to place the bit in its mouth. This promotes chewing activity. Rein aids arrive slightly delayed. This forgives slightly unsteady hands.

Which material do you prefer?

Multiple selection possible (if the material is not available, we will show you alternatives)

Stainless steel: Particularly wear-resistant and rustproof. The classic among the bit materials. The material is tasteless and does not additionally promote salivation & chewing activity. Colors: Silver and Antique.

Sweet Iron: Black burnished iron forms noble rust on contact with saliva, which produces a sweet taste and stimulates chewing. Spanish traditional material used in the manufacture of dentures.

Brass: Compared to stainless steel a little more brittle, but with corrosion resistance. Popularly used in baroque riding because of its appearance. Colors: Gold and chrome plated in silver.

Sweet Copper: Gold color solid material with 89% copper. Very solid and nickel free. The sweetish taste is liked by many horses. It promotes chewing and mouth activity.

The Baucher bit is characterized by its quiet and stable position in the horse's mouth. It has no leverage effect, but acts on the corners of the mouth when the reins are pulled. This often has a straightening effect. The side piece has a sideways pointing effect due to its b-shape when pulled on one side.

Whether young horse or already well trained - the Baucher bit offers advantages for every level of training. Due to the buckling at the upper trees, it lies particularly calm and straight in the mouth. With a broken mouthpiece it does not sag in the direction of the incisors - in comparison to a loose ring snaffle bit . This makes it particularly suitable for use as a bradoon. With ported mouthpiece it offers a great option for riders who do not want to ride with a lever bit and whose horse gets along better with a ported mouthpiece .

It should fit closer to the horse's mouth at the sides than, for example, a loose ring snaffle bit. Normally we recommend the usual size. To be sure, you can measure an existing bit of your horse and compare it with the real measurements of our bits in the store. Please use the size guide directly at the products.
