The traditional Spanish hat – the finishing touch to your riding outfit

Picadera has an exquisite selection of traditional hats for riding, as protection from the tides or to combine with an entire favorite outfit. The CORDOBES CAÑERO riding hat is available in 5 different styles.

The classic felt hat in the Vaquero style is traditionally wide-brimmed - with a brim width of 9.5 cm - and is handcrafted in Spain. It is pleasantly light to wear and weighs only 160 g. The wool felt made from 100% wool is breathable and the satin lining gently hugs the head. The design is rounded off by a classic chin strap and a hat band in a matching color.

The hats at Picadera are made directly in a small factory in Spain. The headgear impresses with its design, craftsmanship and high-quality materials. The Vaquero hat is not only worn by horse riders, but also with elegant outfits or even evening wear.

The hat size – Measure your head correctly in 3 steps

 Since helmet sizes are often variable these days, they usually do not give an accurate indication of how big your head circumference actually is. For this reason, it is helpful to measure your head as follows.

1. Place the tape measure horizontally around the head 1 cm above the eyes and ears.
2. The band must fit tightly but not cut in.
3. Read the head circumference at the intersection point of the measuring tape.

If a tape measure is not available, a non-stretchable string and folding rule can be used as a substitute. This is easiest if a second person makes the mark on the string to avoid any deviations.

Wool felt, the classic all-rounder

 Felt is not woven, but is created through mechanical processing, known as fulling. The wool is cleaned, combed, processed into a fleece and finally fulled with high pressure and water. At the end of the process, a high-quality wool fleece is created. The fibers are connected to one another and cannot be separated. This complex process makes the wool felt:

• weatherproof
• dirt-repellent
• breathable
• quick-drying

and stores a large volume of water without feeling wet. This makes it the ideal companion for any season.

Satin, the noble flatterer

The inner lining of our hats is made of satin. It is particularly elegant and gently hugs the head. Satin also has the property of preventing hair breakage and hugging the head without losing its hold.

Vaqueros' riding clothes and the Vaquera

The Vaquero and the Vaquera are the Spanish mounted cattle herders who have remained true to their style for decades. The riders still play a major role in cattle breeding today. The Doma Vaquera riding style developed from this field of work. This is now becoming increasingly popular in sporting competitions.
