Single-Joint Bits
Single-Joint Bits
The most well-known bit is the single-jointed bit. It has a joint in the middle, which acts on the lower jaw via the edges of the tongue when the reins are pulled.
Single broken teeth at Picadera
The best-known variant is the loose ring snaffle, whose rings can rotate and slide along the sides of the mouthpiece. The VAQUERO loose ring snaffle is available in stainless steel and burnished iron. The sweet iron effect is created by the natural oxidation processes. Rust forms, which stimulates the horse's salivation. The VAQUERO stainless steel snaffle acts like a loose ring snaffle and is combined with a curb bit. The snaffle has smaller rings than the classic loose ring snaffle, so that the rings do not collide with the sides of the curb bit as easily.
Full bits apply pressure to the tongue and bars. The bits ensure that the bit sits better at the corners of the mouth, which allows for a softer guidance. The sideways effect of the sides makes it easier to work on position and bend. This makes rein aids easier to understand. Another advantage of full bits is that the bit cannot be pulled through the mouth.
The Kimblewick bridle at Picadera is a single-jointed bit with D-rings. The mouthpiece is not installed in the middle of the side parts, but higher up. If the horse raises its head too high, the reins slide down and the bit develops a small leverage effect like a curb bit. If the horse's head is too low, the reins slide up along the D-rings and the single-jointed bit acts like a single-jointed Baucher bit.
The sides of the Baucher bit are B-shaped. The mouthpiece lies particularly quietly in the mouth because it is attached to the bridle via the short upper bars. This fastening also allows for lateral adjustment. Another advantage is that the Baucher bit does not sag downwards, as is common with other single-jointed bits. This makes it ideal for horses with short mouth gaps. The Baucher bit has no leverage because it has no lower bar and therefore no counter-lever. This means that the Baucher bit can also be ridden without a chin chain and does not affect the poll. Picadera offers the single-jointed VAQUERO Baucher bits with flat stainless steel and burnished iron sides. The Baucher INGLES bit has a lower bit thickness and classic English, i.e. rounded, sides.
