Vaquero curb bit made of stainless steel with a movable Mullen Mouth mouthpiece and foam bar. Thanks to the 1:1 side part ratio, this curb bit has minimal leverage, sits securely in the horse's mouth and is therefore also suitable as a training curb bit. An additional pair of reins can be buckled into the curb bit eye so that it can also be used with two pairs of reins - for example, to slowly transition to one-handed riding.

The vertical movement of the mouthpiece – the so-called pump function – encourages the horse to chew. This makes it easier to loosen the jaw, neck and thus the entire horse's back.

The Mullen Mouth bar mouthpiece, optimized and anatomically shaped by Lopez, is well received by many horses because it sits very evenly on the tongue and is cushioned by it. Horses with very thick and fleshy tongues in particular benefit from the mouthpiece that is curved over its entire length.

The foam bar at the end of the bit ensures that horses with very active mouths cannot catch the reins with their lips. It also prevents the reins from getting caught in the lower bars. The foam bar stabilizes the entire bit and gives it great balance - for precise action and a calm position.

Effect & use of the pump bit

Compared to the classic curb bit with fixed sides, the pump curb bit takes effect somewhat later: when you take the reins, the mouthpiece first slides upwards before the effect on the mouth, lower jaw and poll begins. The pump function allows the horse to move the mouthpiece up and down rhythmically. This helps horses with a tight mouth and horses that chew very little to relax their jaws better. This also loosens the poll and ultimately the horse's entire body more easily.

If you are unsure, we recommend that you compare the actual dimensions of your existing bit with those of our mouthpiece to find the right size. Please note that the sides of the curb bit should fit tightly to the corners of your horse's mouth.
