Baucher bit with single-jointed mouthpiece made of silver-colored brass. The mouthpiece has a bit thickness of 16 mm at the edge and tapers towards the middle. This ensures optimal pressure distribution in the area of the soft tissue in the corners of the mouth. At the same time, the mouthpiece requires less space inside the mouth.

The slight vertical play at the connection between the mouthpiece and the side parts also encourages chewing and the horse can position the mouthpiece a little more in the mouth - in contrast to a Baucher bit with a fixed connection. This also means that rein aids are less direct, similar to a loose ring snaffle. This also compensates for slightly unsteady hands, for example.

With flat Spanish-style side parts. For horses with sensitive mouth corners, we recommend using rubber bit discs, as is common with Iberian curbs or Pelhalms.

Effect of the Baucher bit

The bridle is fastened using the oval eyelets on the upper bars. The shape of the side pieces means that the Baucher bit is more stable in the mouth and offers the option of adjusting it sideways using pressure on the horse's cheek. Another special feature of this shape of side piece is that the mouthpiece sags less downwards than with other bits, such as the loose ring snaffle, olive head bit, D-ring or full bit. Even when chewing, it can only be moved slightly towards the incisors and is almost straight in the horse's mouth, similar to a bar. This makes the Baucher bit suitable for all horses with little space in the mouth and/or a short mouth gap.

The Baucher bit is used without a chin chain and has no leverage. Instead, when the reins are pulled, the bit moves more towards the corner of the mouth and has an effect there. This has an uprighting effect on many horses.

The right size for the Baucher bit

In our experience, you can choose the size your horse is used to with this bit. For correct influence and aids, the sides of the Baucher bit should fit tightly to the corners of the horse's mouth. If your horse is undecided between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size for this model.
