Baucher bit with Mullen Mouth iron mouthpiece
Traditional Baucher bit made of black burnished iron with a solid Mullen Mouth bar mouthpiece. Bit thickness 15 mm. With flat Spanish-style side parts. For horses with sensitive mouth corners, we recommend using rubber bit discs, as is common with Iberian curbs or Pelhalms. The Baucher bit is made by Lopez in Spain.

Effect of the Baucher bit
The bridle is fastened using the short upper bars. In combination with the unbroken bar, the Baucher bit sits very quietly and stably in the mouth. The Mullen Mouth bar mouthpiece, optimized by Lopez and anatomically shaped, is well received by many horses because it sits very evenly on the tongue and is cushioned by it. The Mullen Mouth mouthpiece, which is curved along its entire length, is particularly suitable for horses with very thick and fleshy tongues. The slight play at the connection between the mouthpiece and the upper bars also encourages chewing. The burnished iron stimulates saliva production through natural oxidation processes and the formation of rust.
The Baucher bit is used without a chin chain and has no leverage. Instead, when the reins are pulled, the bit moves more towards the corner of the mouth and has an effect there. This has an uprighting effect on many horses.
The right size for the Baucher bit
Under "Size Guide" (see above) you will find the actual dimensions of the Mullen Mouth mouthpiece. If you are unsure, we recommend that you compare the actual dimensions of your existing bit with those of the Baucher bit to find the right size. Please note that the side parts should fit tightly to the corners of your horse's mouth. If your horse is undecided between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size for this model.
Care instructions for burnished iron
Rust will form on traditional, burnished products or product components after some time. This is due to natural oxidation processes and is not a quality defect, but an essential and intended characteristic of this material. To maintain the dark color, it is recommended to occasionally rub the affected parts with a cloth soaked in olive oil.
