Baroque cavesson in Portuguese style

High-quality cavesson in a Portuguese-baroque look. The rounded, solid noseband without joints is padded, covered in leather and ensures a stable hold while allowing precise control. In combination with the three pivoting rings, the cavesson is therefore ideal for lunging and bitless work in hand. Additional, unpleasant shearing forces are avoided because the noseband has no joints. The noseband can be moved on the cheek strap for individual adjustment and prevents the cheek strap from slipping near the eyes.

Since cavessons in Portugal are traditionally buckled a little lower on the horse's nose than, for example, the Spanish serretas, the nosepiece of the Portuguesa cavesson has a rather narrow fit.

Handmade in Spain. Made from black, vegetable-tanned cowhide with stainless steel fittings and silver-colored Cortesia buckles.

Size & fit of the cavesson PORTUGUESA

The cavesson is made in the Iberian standard size - perfect for the long and narrow heads of the Iberian breeds, such as PRE, Andalusian or Lusitano. Thanks to the large adjustment range, in our experience it fits most horses with VB to WB heads. You can find the length of all straps in our size guide (see above).

Combine cavesson with bit

Would you like to use a bit together with the cavesson? We recommend using a semi-bridle with which the bit is simply buckled over the cavesson. This way, you can gently get your young horse used to the bit. The semi-bridle, reins and bit can also be easily removed during the training session, for example if you want to warm up your horse by hand-working the bit and then lunge with just the cavesson.
