Light cavesson for lunging in the style of the Spanish Serreta
The SERRETA model is the Spanish lightweight and fitting wonder among cavessons. The flat, solid nosepiece is covered in leather and ensures a stable hold while allowing precise control. This makes the cavesson ideal for lunging and bitless work in hand. Additional, unpleasant shearing forces are avoided because the nosepiece has no joints in the nose area.
The optimized shape of the nosepiece fits a variety of horse noses of different breeds and sits securely even when your horse jumps for joy. The centrally positioned ring is rotatable and is suitable for buckling in the lunge line or a lead rope. The noseband can be moved on the cheek strap for individual adjustment and prevents the cheek strap from slipping near the eyes. The buckles of the cavesson are lined with leather so that they do not rest directly on the horse's skin.
The cavesson is hand-sewn in Spain. The high-quality metal parts are made in Portugal. Made of brown, vegetable-tanned cowhide with burnished iron fittings. The nosepiece has no Serrations / teeth like the traditional Spanish serreta.

Combine Serreta with bit
Would you like to use a bit together with the Spanish Serreta? We recommend using a semi-bridle with which the bit is simply buckled over the cavesson. This way, you can gently get your young horse used to the bit. The semi-bridle, reins and bit can also be easily removed during the training session, for example if you want to warm up your horse by hand-working the bit and then lunge it with just the cavesson.

Size & fit of the SERRETA cavesson with one ring
The cavesson is made in the Iberian standard size - perfect for the long and narrow heads of the Iberian breeds, such as PRE, Andalusian or Lusitano. Thanks to the large adjustment range, in our experience it fits most horses with VB to WB heads. You can find the length of all straps in our size guide (see above).
Care instructions for burnished iron
Rust will form over time on traditional, burnished products or product components. This is due to natural oxidation processes and is not a quality defect, but rather an essential characteristic of this material. To maintain the dark color, it is recommended to occasionally rub the affected parts with a cloth soaked in olive oil.

I bought the Serreta to get my young horse to stop pulling away (with a knotted halter!). The rigid nosepiece and stable seat give me a very direct influence. He only tried it once and immediately changed his mind. Since then we have worked together harmoniously and he takes his breaks much more quickly, without any conflicts. The Serreta looks very nice, but not super soft (rigid nosepiece, no padding). If used correctly, it is effective without being mean. Maybe half a star deducted because the leather could be a bit softer... I don't regret my purchase! 🙂

Over the course of use and with occasional greasing, it becomes as soft as butter.

Sturdy, yet soft leather. The nosepiece fits perfectly on my Andalusian and the rest of the bridle is very easy to adjust.
Because the straps are sufficiently flexible in terms of length, width and position, this cavesson can actually be adjusted to the horse's head. The nosepiece fit over the nose in the right position, but there was no room for two fingers underneath. With a lot of effort, we were able to stretch it a little so that it now fits perfectly.
The material and workmanship of the cavesson are wonderful.
