Pump bit with small tongue clearance made of stainless steel

High-quality pump bit made of stainless steel with English-style side parts. The vertical play of the mouthpiece encourages the horse to chew. This makes it easier to loosen the jaw, poll and thus the entire horse's back. The bar mouthpiece with little tongue clearance relieves the middle of the tongue, making the bit suitable for horses with normal to fleshy tongues.

The pump bit is made by Lopez in Spain.

Effect & use of the bit

Compared to the classic curb bit with fixed side parts, the pump curb bit takes effect somewhat later: when you take the reins, the mouthpiece first slides upwards before the effect on the mouth, lower jaw and poll begins. The pump function allows the horse to move the mouthpiece up and down rhythmically. This helps horses with a tight mouth and horses with very little mouth activity to relax their jaws better. This also loosens the poll and ultimately the horse's entire body more easily.

The pump curb bit can be used either bare or in combination with a bridle.

The right size for the curb bit

Under "Size Guide" (see above) you will find the actual dimensions of the mouthpiece. Please note that the sides of the curb bit should fit tightly to the corners of your horse's mouth. If your horse is between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the smaller size for this model.
