Spanish training curb bit with small tongue clearance made of iron

Vaquero curb bit with a rigid bar mouthpiece made of black burnished iron, as used in Spain to train young horses. The comparatively long upper bar ensures that the bit is particularly stable. The side part ratio of 1:1.2 means that this curb bit has only minimal leverage. An additional pair of reins can be buckled into the curb bit eye, so that it can also be used with two pairs of reins - for example, to slowly transition to one-handed riding.

The bar mouthpiece with little tongue clearance relieves the middle of the tongue, making the bit suitable for horses with normal to fleshy tongues. The burnished iron stimulates saliva production through natural oxidation processes and the formation of rust.

The foam bar at the end of the bit ensures that horses with very active mouths cannot catch the reins with their lips. It also prevents the reins from getting caught in the lower bars. The foam bar stabilizes the entire bit and gives it great balance - for precise action and a calm position.

Please note that the sides of the curb bit should fit tightly to the corners of your horse's mouth.

Care instructions for burnished iron

Rust will form on traditional, burnished products or product components after some time. This is due to natural oxidation processes and is not a quality defect, but an essential and intended characteristic of this material. To maintain the dark color, it is recommended to occasionally rub the affected parts with a cloth soaked in olive oil.
