Spanish Curb Bits
Spanish Curb Bits
The Spanish Double Bridle is the traditional bit of the Doma Vaquera and is ridden bareback, i.e. without bradoon. Through the shank of the reins, leverage is developed from the tongue, over the jaw and from there via the cheek pieces of the bridle to the neck. The curb chain is clamped into the curb chain hook , which should sit flat in the chin groove. It is important that the curb chain is not twisted. The Spanish curb bit can be ridden with one or two pairs of reins.
Picadera offers the Curb Bit VAQUERO in stainless steel and burnished iron. Here the rider can choose between two mouthpiece variants. The Mullen Mouth version lies particularly quietly in the mouth and works over the entire tongue. This is especially advantageous for horses with thicker tongues. The mouthpiece variant with low port relieves the middle of the tongue.
The sliding cheek curb bit VAQUERO has a vertically movable mouthpiece, which promotes the horse's chewing activity. This causes the horse to tense up less in the mouth and the looseness is distributed over the entire body via the neck and back.
The training curb bit VAQUERO is available in both mouthpiece versions. The upper tree is longer than the other Spanish curb bridles so that the bit is in a particularly stable position. The lower tree is shorter and thus produces a mild leverage effect. The bit is well suited for young horses that are to be accustomed to the double bridle. The foam stirrup joins the curb bit trees together and ensures that the horse cannot catch the side pieces with its lips.
All Spanish curb bits are available in burnished iron. This material oxidises naturally and forms noble rust, which encourages horses to salivate more.
