Saddle Accessories
Saddle accessories for Spanish and Baroque saddles
No Spanish, Portuguese or Baroque saddle should be without authentic and stylish accessories. So that the saddle can be adapted to the rider's wishes or an element that is not intact can be replaced, the matching, high-quality accessories are available at Picadera.
Spanish cowhide saddle girths
The girth holds the saddle in place. It is important that it fits well so that the horse's movement is not restricted. Before the girth is put on, the area must be cleaned well beforehand so that no dirt rubs under the girth. It should be at the narrowest part of the belly and there should be a hand's width of space between the front leg and the girth. First the girth is loosely buckled before tightening it after ten minutes so that the saddle does not slip. Ideally, the girth should be in the centre so that the D-ring for attaching the breastplate is between the front legs.
To prevent the girth's gussets from coming into contact with the horse and restricting the horse's well-being, the saddle girth DOMA EXTRA has leather-padded areas at the ends. The girth is anatomically shaped for the best possible pressure distribution. The girth is available in havana brown, brown and black with silver roller buckles.
Baroque breastplates
The breastplate ensures that the saddle does not slip backwards. Especially in disciplines such as speed trail in the Working Equitation, the shifting of the saddle can be favoured by the jerky manoeuvres. However, the breastplate is not a solution for ill-fitting saddles. It can, however, serve as a chic accessory at baroque shows or tournaments. The breastplate is hung on the rings on the left and right side of the saddle box via two shorter straps. The longer strap is hooked between the front legs on the middle D-ring of the girth.
At Picadera the Breastplate PORTUGUES Baroque is available in light brown, brown and black cowhide. The model has gold or silver cortesia buckles that match any baroque saddle. For riders who prefer something simpler, there is the filigree Breastplate CORELLI in black and brown with gold and silver cortesia buckles.
stirrup in Spanish and Portuguese style
stirrup can also turn any baroque saddle into an eye-catcher. The stirrup DOMA is in the Doma Vaquera style. It offers a larger contact surface for the foot. This reduces the risk of the foot getting stuck in the stirrup . Nevertheless, it is narrow enough to be used not only for Vaquero saddles, but also for Spanish and baroque saddles. The Spanish stirrup is made of burnished iron.
The stirrup ESPANOL in Spanish Alta Escuela style is available in burnished iron, stainless steel or in a chic stainless steel antique look. The fluted support surface is extra wide and provides comfort. The thread on the suspension favours freedom of movement to allow the finest helping.
The PORTUGUES model is available in Portuguese style in stainless steel and gold-coloured brass. The pretty decoration on the tread, the bracket and the suspension make this stirrup an eye-catcher. This model also has an enlarged support surface to reduce the risk of getting stuck in the stirrup .
stirrup holder for the baroque saddle
stirrup holder are ideal for fixing the stirrup to the saddle if necessary. The stirrup can be suspended from the saddle via a ring.
Suitable for baroque saddles, the leather straps Baroque are available in light brown, brown and black with pretty gold-coloured or silver-coloured Cortesia buckles.
Riders who like things more simple may like the stirrup holders INGLES . They are available in light brown, brown and black with gold-coloured or silver-coloured fittings.
As an alternative, the leather straps can also be used as bit straps to attach a bit to a bridle, for example the Bitless Bridle OSLO.
Stirrup leathers - ideal for baroque saddles
The stirrup leathers are attached to the stirrup with the buckle in typical Portuguese fashion. The purpose of this is to prevent them from interfering with the inner thigh or adding unnecessary weight to the stirrup attachment. This is especially practical for baroque saddles with closed stirrup suspensions that cannot be used with mono stirrup leathers .
At Picadera , the stirrup leathers PORTUGUESA are available in havana-brown, brown and black tanned cowhide. The silver or gold-coloured Cortesia buckles adorn the straps in a classic baroque look.
For the care of the saddle accessories, Picadera recommends the leather care products from Equifix and Vivencia Dehesa.
