Double bridles

Off to the high school - with a double bridle

In classical riding, horses are converted to Curb Bit-bradoon after basic training. This means that from now on there is room for two bits in the horse's mouth: One Curb Bit, one ported & mullen mouth bit with a suit and the so-called bradoon, which has a smaller diameter than a normal snaffle bit. Because there are two bits in the horse's mouth, it is also ridden with two pairs of reins. In most cases, young horses make the transition to Curb Bit-bradoon well. Initially, the leather curb reins - which is usually somewhat narrower than the snaffle rein - can still be placed on the neck or picked up very loosely. The horse then gradually gets used to the effect of the Curb Bit.

A special double bridle is required to buckle both bits . It differs from the snaffle bridle primarily in that it has an additional cheek piece, or an crownpiece with cheekpiece.

Double bridle CORELLI

This Portuguese-style model is ideal as an eye-catcher for special occasions - but also for everyday training. The curved cortesia buckles and narrow straps give this double bridle a sophisticated look. The CORELLI model looks particularly sleek and stylish on the large, angular heads of Lusitanos - but of course also on any other breed.

Colors and fit

The CORELLI double bridle also generally fits thoroughbreds and warmbloods very well, as most straps can be adjusted to be either very long or very short.

The crownpiece is anatomically cut out behind the ears to take pressure off this sensitive area. As is usual with snaffle bridles, the noseband is guided through two straps in the cheek piece . In the double bridle, this strap is where the ported & mullen mouth bit is buckled into this strap. The bradoon is buckled into the additional cheek strap in such a way that the two bits do not overlap in the horse's mouth.

Because the color of the double bridle should match the rest of the equipment, it is available in three leather colors - each with silver or gold Cortesia buckles. This means that no compromises have to be made.

A bridle for the entire training

Another plus point of this decorative bridle is its great flexibility. Thanks to the detachable crownpiece with cheekpiece , it can be used for riding on a snaffle - as well as with one or two reins on Curb Bit . To ride on Curb Bit-bradoon , simply slide the crownpiece with cheekpiece back under the crownpiece .

Once purchased, you have all the options. It can make sense to purchase a double bridle for a young horse, train it first on a snaffle and then switch to Curb Bit-bradoon . The CORELLI double bridle will go through this long journey without any problems if it is well cared for due to its outstanding quality.
