Baroque Baucher bit made of silver colored brass with ported mouthpiece
Baucher bit made of silver-colored brass with solid ported mouthpiece. The ornate side pieces with floral pattern in Portuguese Cortesia style make the Baucher ported mouthpiece a baroque eye-catcher.
The mouthpiece has a bit thickness of 17 mm at the edges and tapers to 8 mm towards the center. This ensures optimum pressure distribution in the soft tissue area in the corners of the mouth. At the same time, the mouthpiece takes up less space inside the mouth.
The slight vertical play at the connection between mouthpiece and the side pieces also encourages chewing activity and the horse can position the mouthpiece a little more in the mouth - in contrast to a Baucher bit with a fixed connection. This also means that rein aids, similar to a loose ring snaffle bit, are less direct. This also compensates for slightly unsteady hands, for example.
For horses with sensitive corners of the mouth, we recommend the use of bit guards made of rubber, as is usual with the Iberian curb bit or Pelhalms.
The Baucher bit is manufactured in a factory in Portugal.

Effect of the Baucher bit
The bridle is buckled via the oval eyelets on the upper bars. In combination with the unbroken ported mouthpiece , the Baucher bit lies very quietly and stably in the mouth. The ported mouthpiece is readily accepted by many horses as it lies evenly on the tongue and is cushioned by it. The low port takes the pressure off the middle of the tongue. The slight play at the connection between mouthpiece and the upper bars also encourages chewing activity.
The Baucher bit is used without curb chain and has no leverage. Instead, the bit moves more towards the corner of the mouth when the reins are pulled and has an effect there. This results in a straightening effect for many horses.
The right size for the Baucher bit
Under "Size Guide" (see above) you will find the real dimensions of the mouthpiece. If you are unsure, we recommend that you check the real dimensions of your existing bit with those of the Baucher bit to find the right size. Please note that the side pieces close to the corners of your horse's mouth. If your horse is fluctuating between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size for this model.
