Baucher Bit made of silver-coloured brass with single-jointed mouthpiece
Baucher bit with single broken mouthpiece made of silver-colored brass. The mouthpiece has a bit thickness of 16 mm in the edge area and tapers towards the middle. This ensures optimum pressure distribution in the area of the soft tissues in the corners of the mouth. At the same time, the mouthpiece takes up less space inside the mouth.
The slight vertical play at the connection between mouthpiece and the side pieces also encourages chewing and the horse can position the mouthpiece - in contrast to a Baucher bit with a fixed connection - a little more in the mouth. This also means that rein aids, similar to a loose ring snaffle bit, are less direct. This compensates for slightly unsteady hands, for example.
With flat Spanish style sides. For horses with sensitive mouth angles we recommend the use of bit guards made of rubber, as is common with the Iberian curbs or pelhams.

Effect of the Baucher bit
The bridle is buckled via the oval eyelets on the upper shanks. The shape of the side pieces causes the baucher bit to be more stable in the mouth and offers a lateral adjustment possibility via the pressure on the horse's cheek. Another special feature of this side piece shape is that the mouthpiece sags less downwards compared to other bits, such as loose ring snaffle bit, olive, D-ring or full cheek snaffle bit. Even when chewing, it can only be moved minimally in the direction of the incisors and has an almost straight position in the horse's mouth, similar to a ported bar mouthpiece. This makes the baucher bit suitable for all horses with little space in the mouth and/or a short mouth gap.
The Baucher bit is used without curb chain and has no leverage. Instead, when the reins are pulled, the bit moves more towards the corner of the mouth and works there. This results in a uplifting effect for many horses.

The right size for the Baucher bit
In our experience, you can choose your horse's usual size for this bit . For a correct influence and aids, the side pieces of the Baucher bit should be close to the corners of the horse's mouth. If your horse fluctuates between two sizes, we recommend you choose the larger size with this model.
