Effect of the Baucher bit
The buckling on the bridle is done via the short upper trees. In combination with the unbroken ported mouthpiece the Baucher bit lies thereby very calmly and stably in the mouth. The anatomically shaped Mullen Mouth ported mouthpiece , optimized by Lopez, is gladly accepted by many horses, as it lies very evenly on the tongue and is cushioned by it. The Mullen Mouth mouthpiece , which is curved over the entire length, is particularly suitable for horses with very thick and fleshy tongues. The slight play at the junction between mouthpiece and upper trees additionally promotes chewing activity.
The Baucher bit is used without curb chain and has no leverage. Instead, when the reins are pulled, the bit moves more towards the corner of the mouth and works there. This results in a uplifting effect for many horses.
The right size for the Baucher bit
Under "Size guide" (see above) you will find the real dimensions of the Mullen Mouth mouthpiece. If you are unsure, we recommend that you compare the real dimensions of your existing bit with those of the Baucher bit to find the correct size. Please note that the side pieces should fit close to the corners of your horse's mouth. If your horse fluctuates between two sizes, we recommend you choose the larger size for this model.

The more than 160-year history of Frenería y Romanas López
Frenería y Romanas López is a handicraft business founded in 1850 and based in Cortegana, Andalusia. The town is known for its many traditional handicraft businesses, which mainly serve the agricultural production in the region. For example, the ancestors of the current owners, bits and spurs already supplied local riders.
At López, the love of craftsmanship and the secrets of producing high-quality metal goods have been passed down from father to son for five generations. Over the centuries, the forging skills and manufacturing processes have been constantly refined. Even today, López combines modern manufacturing processes with traditional craftsmanship. Without losing the knowledge of craftsmanship, traditional products of high quality and contemporary variety continue to be manufactured.
Spanish bits, Stirrups and spurs
Thus, López specialized in the manufacture of metalware for the Spanish and Portuguese equestrian styles, such as bits, Stirrups, as well as slip-on spurs and Vaquera-spurs.
The products manufactured by López in the plant in Cortegana are marked with the seal of quality "López".
At Picadera you will find selected metal goods from López, such as snaffle bits (Baucher bit , full cheek snaffle bit, Kimblewick) and ported & mullen mouth bits (Baucher bit , Kimblewick, Pelham, Baroque curb bit, Spanish Curb Bit), as well as Spanish Vaquero-spurs and Portuguese slip-on spurs. Stirrups in Spanish Alta Escuala style and Baroque stirrups complete our assortment.
I used the bit for the first time today. My horse accepted the bit immediately. At first he took advantage of the freedom and carried his head quite high, but loosened up again in the course of the exercise. As expected, the bit lies very calmly in the mouth. I am curious to see how it will continue to work in the future.
Dear Andres, thank you very much for your detailed feedback. It's great that your horse likes the bit . I wish you many more beautiful rides with it. Best regards, Mara Laengerer
