cavesson Portuguese style with fixed one-piece nose iron and jaw strap. Made of vegetable tanned cowhide leather with brass fittings and cortesia buckles. One size fits all. Color: black-silver.
High-quality workmanship cavesson in Portuguese-baroque look. The rounded, firm nose iron without joints is padded, covered with leather and provides a stable hold with the possibility of precise action. In combination with the three swivelling rings, the cavesson is therefore ideal for lunging and for the bitless in-hand work . Additional, unpleasant shearing forces are avoided because the nose iron has no joints. The jaw strap can be moved on the cheek strap for individual adjustment and prevents the cheek strap from slipping near the eyes.
Since the cavessons in Portugal are traditionally buckled a little lower on the horse's nose than, for example, the Spanish serretas, the nose iron of the cavesson Portuguesa has a rather narrow fit.
Handmade in Spain. Made of black vegetable tanned cowhide with stainless steel fittings and silver cortesia buckles.

Size & Fit of cavesson PORTUGUESA
The cavesson is made in the Iberian one size fits all - perfect for the long and narrow heads of the Iberian breeds, such as PRE, Andalusian horse or Lusitano. Due to the large adjustment range, in our experience it fits most horses with Cob to Full heads. The length of all straps can be found in our size guide (see above).
cavesson combine with bit
You want to use bit together with cavesson ? We recommend the additional use of a semi bridle with which the bit is simply buckled over the cavesson . This way you can gently get your young horse used to the bit . In addition, the semi bridle together with the reins and bit can also be easily removed during the training session, e.g. if you want to warm up your horse with manual work at bit and then lunge with cavesson only.

The history of the Guarnicionería Gómez
The Guarnicionería (saddlery) Gómez is a family business with a long tradition and over 100 years of history. In Arzuá, a small town in the north of Spain and one of the last stops on the Way of St. James before Santiago de Compostela, Gómez has been developing and producing equipment for Iberian equestrian sports since 1909. The company values of Gómez also reflect the recipe for success with which Gómez has managed to establish itself as a strong brand in the equestrian scene. With a healthy mixture of tradition and innovation, high-quality products are created with painstaking craftsmanship that inspire riders throughout Spain and Portugal.
Bridles, cavessons and girths for the Iberian riding style
Gómez produces mainly leather products for the classical Iberian riding styles. These include the Alta Escuela, the Iberian High School and the Doma Vaquera. The latter is a working riding style that is closely associated with cattle breeding and has also established itself as a tournament discipline in Germany.
At Picadera you will find selected leather goods produced by Gómez in Spain, such as bridles, cavessons, cavessons, halters, girths, Stirrups- and spur straps. The products of Gómez use all high-quality cowhide leather from Spanish production.
