Effect of the Baucher bit

The bridle is buckled via the short upper bars. This means that the Baucher bit is more stable in the mouth, offers lateral adjustment via the pressure on the horse's cheek and sags less than other bridles bits. Even when chewing, it can only be moved minimally in the direction of the incisors. When used as a bradoon in combination with a curb bit, this makes it easier to avoid a collision between the two bit in the mouth - an advantage especially for horses with a short mouth gap. The slight play at the connection between mouthpiece and upper bars also promotes chewing activity. Through natural oxidation processes and the formation of noble rust, the burnished iron stimulates the formation of saliva.

The Baucher bit is used without curb chain and has no leverage. Instead, the bit moves more towards the corner of the mouth when the reins are pulled and has an effect there. This results in a straightening effect for many horses.

Care instructions for burnished iron

Rust forms on traditional, burnished products or product components after some time. This is caused by natural oxidation processes and is not a quality defect, but an essential and desired characteristic of this material. To maintain the dark color, it is advisable to occasionally rub the affected parts with a cloth soaked in olive oil.
