Picadera has an exquisite selection of traditional hats for riding, protection from the tides or for combining an entire favourite outfit. The CORDOBES CAÑERO riding hat is available in 5 different styles.

The classic felt hat in the Vaquero style is traditionally handmade in Spain with a wide brim of 9.5 cm . It is pleasantly light to wear and weighs only 160 g. The 100% wool felt is breathable and the satin lining nestles gently against the head. The design is rounded off by a classic chin strap and a matching hat band.

The hats at Picadera are made directly in a small factory in Spain. The headgear impresses with its design, quality craftsmanship and high-quality materials. This is why the Vaquero hat is not only seen on riders and horsewomen, but also with elegant outfits or even evening wear.

The hat size - Measure your head correctly in 3 steps

Since helmet size is usually variable nowadays, it usually does not give an exact indication of how big the head circumference actually is. For this reason, it is helpful to measure your head as follows.

1. Place the measuring tape horizontally around the head 1 cm above the eyes and ears.
2. The tape must fit snugly but not cut in.
3. Read the head circumference at the intersection of the tape measure.

If no tape measure is available, a non-stretchable string and folding rule/ruler can be used as a substitute. The easiest way to do this is to have a second person make the mark on the string to avoid deviations.

Wool felt, the classic all-rounder

Felt is not woven, but is produced by a mechanical process called fulling. The wool is cleaned, combed, processed into fleece and finally rolled with high pressure and water. This is how a high-quality wool fleece is created at the end of the process. The fibres are bonded together and cannot be separated. This elaborate process makes the wool felt:

• weatherproof
• dirt-repellent
• breathable
• quick-drying

and stores a large volume of water without feeling wet. This makes it the ideal companion in any season.

Satin, the noble flatterer

The lining of our hats is made of satin. It is particularly noble and nestles gently against the head. Satin also has the property that it avoids hair breakage and nestles against the head without losing its hold.

Riding clothes of the Vaqueros and the Vaquera

The Vaquero and the Vaquera are the Spanish mounted cattle herders who have remained true to their style for decades. The horsemen and horsewomen are still very important in cattle breeding today. The training riding style Doma Vaquera developed from this field of work. In the meantime, it is becoming more and more popular in sporting competition.
