Baucher bit with thin Mullen Mouth ported mouthpiece stainless steel

It's finally here - the PICADERA Baucher bit 🤩 Developed with feedback from our customers and our many years of bit experience.

The PICADERA Baucher bit has a straight or slightly forward curved Mullen Mouth / Mullmouth ported mouthpiece that follows the horse's anatomy due to its curvature. With a bit thickness of 12 mm, it takes up as little space as possible in the horse's mouth and still ensures pressure is distributed evenly.

The upper bars are slightly curved outwards to ensure an optimum fit. The 6 cm upper bars are also slightly shorter than most commercially available Baucher bits, making it easier to fit horses with wedge-shaped heads.

The ring diameter of 5 cm gives the reins optimum freedom of movement so that rein aids are delivered precisely, but slight hand errors are still forgiven.

Effect of the Baucher ported mouthpiece

The bridle is buckled to the snaffle bridle via the short upper bars on the small rings of the bit. In combination with the unbroken ported mouthpiece , the Baucher bit lies very calmly and stably in the mouth. This has a stabilizing effect, especially on horses that react to snaffle bits with strong restlessness.

The Mullen Mouth ported mouthpiece is readily accepted by many horses as it lies very evenly on the tongue and is cushioned by it.

The Baucher bit has no leverage due to the lack of a lower tree and is used without curb chain . The Baucher ported mouthpiece moves more towards the corner of the mouth when the reins are pulled and has an effect there. This has a straightening effect on many horses.

The right bridle for the Baucher bit

The Baucher bit can be used with all standard bridles. We recommend the use of a normal noseband, which acts as jaw and poll protection in the event of an unintentional abrupt rein pull. We generally advise against using flash - especially with this type of bit - so that the horse can counteract the pressure from the ported mouthpiece by opening its mouth if necessary. In our range you will only find snaffles with removable noseband or without flash.
