Buckling & position of the Baucher bit
The Baucher bit is buckled to the bridle via the short top trees. The curvature of the top trees should point outwards, away from the horse's head.
The shape of the side pieces causes the Baucher bit to be more stable in the mouth and provides a lateral adjustment possibility via the pressure on the horse's cheek. Another special feature of this side piece shape is that the mouthpiece sags less downwards compared to other bits, such as loose ring snaffle bit, olive head bit, D-ring or full cheek snaffle bit. Even when chewing, it can only be moved minimally in the direction of the incisors and has an almost straight position in the horse's mouth, similar to a ported mouthpiece. This feature - in combination with the particularly thin mouthpiece - makes the Baucher bit SLIM suitable for all horses with little space in the mouth and / or short mouth gap.
The Baucher bit can also be used as bradoon in combination with a curb bit. The straight position of the mouthpiece makes it easier to avoid a collision of the two bits in the mouth and reduces the space required in the horse's mouth.
Effect of the Baucher bit
The Baucher bit is used without curb chain and has no leverage. Instead, the bit moves more towards the corner of the mouth when the reins are pulled and works there. This results in a straightening effect for many horses. Watch our video to learn more about the effect of the Baucher bit :
