Double snaffle Baucher bit black burnished iron with flat sides
Traditional Baucher Snaffle made of burnished iron with double broken solid mouthpiece. With Spanish style flat sides. Bit thickness 20 mm, tapering to 15 mm towards the middle and slightly anatomically curved towards the front. The special shape results in improved, broad pressure distribution in the soft tissue area at the lips. At the same time, the mouthpiece requires less space in the mouth in the area of the center of the tongue.
The Baucher bit is made in Spain. For horses with sensitive mouth angles, we recommend the use of rubber bit guards , as is common with the Iberian curb or pelhalms.

Effect of the Baucher bit
The buckling on the bridle is done via the short upper trees. This means that the Baucher bit is more stable in the mouth, offers a lateral positioning option via the pressure on the horse's cheek and sags less downwards than, for example, a classic loose ring snaffle bit. Even when chewing, it can only be moved minimally in the direction of the incisors. This is a particular advantage in horses with short mouth gaps. The slight vertical play at the junction between mouthpiece and the upper trees also promotes chewing activity. Through natural oxidation processes and the formation of noble rust, the burnished iron stimulates salivation. This is additionally supported by the copper content of the brass centerpiece.
The Baucher bit is used without curb chain and has no leverage. Instead, when the reins are pulled, the bit moves more towards the corner of the mouth and works there. This results in a uplifting effect for many horses.
How does the Baucher Bit work ?
The right size for the Baucher bit
Under "Size guide" (see above) you will find the real dimensions of the double-broken mouthpiece. If you are unsure, we recommend that you compare the real dimensions of your existing bit with those of the Baucher bit to find the correct size. Please note that the side pieces should fit close to the corners of your horse's mouth. If your horse fluctuates between two sizes, we recommend you choose the larger size for this model.
Care instructions for burnished iron
Rust forms on traditional burnished products or product components after some time. This is due to natural oxidation processes and is not a quality defect, but an essential and desired characteristic of this material. To maintain the dark color, it is recommended to occasionally rub the parts concerned with a cloth soaked in olive oil.

López
The more than 160-year history of Frenería y Romanas López
Frenería y Romanas López is a handicraft business founded in 1850 and based in Cortegana, Andalusia. The town is known for its many traditional handicraft businesses, which mainly serve the agricultural production in the region. For example, the ancestors of the current owners, bits and spurs already supplied local riders.
At López, the love of craftsmanship and the secrets of producing high-quality metal goods have been passed down from father to son for five generations. Over the centuries, the forging skills and manufacturing processes have been constantly refined. Even today, López combines modern manufacturing processes with traditional craftsmanship. Without losing the knowledge of craftsmanship, traditional products of high quality and contemporary variety continue to be manufactured.
