Vaquero Curb Bit made of stainless steel with movable Mullen Mouth mouthpiece and foam stirrup. Thanks to the 1:1 side piece ratio, this Curb Bit has minimal leverage, is stable in the horse's mouth and is therefore also suitable as a training curb bit. An additional pair of reins can be buckled into the curb bit eye, so that it can also be used with two pairs of reins - for example, for a slow transition to one-handed riding.

The vertical play of the mouthpiece - the so-called sliding cheek - encourages the horse to chew. This makes it easier to loosen the jaw, neck and therefore the entire horse's back.

The anatomically shaped Mullen Mouth ported mouthpiece optimized by Lopez is readily accepted by many horses, as it lies very evenly on the tongue and is cushioned by it. Horses with very thick and fleshy tongues in particular benefit from the full-length curved mouthpiece.

The foam stirrup at the end of the shanks ensures that very mouth-active horses cannot catch the reins with their lips. It also prevents the reins from getting caught in the lower bars. The foam stirrup stabilizes the entire bit and gives it great balance - for precise action and a calm position.

Effect & use of the Sliding Cheek Curb Bit

Compared to the classic Curb Bit with fixed side pieces, the Sliding Cheek Curb Bit has a slightly delayed effect: when the reins are taken, the mouthpiece first slides upwards before the effect on the mouth, lower jaw and poll begins. The sliding cheek enables the horse to move the mouthpiece up and down rhythmically. This helps mouthy horses and horses with very little chewing activity to relax the jaw better. This also relaxes the poll and ultimately the horse's entire body more easily.
